NiteKirk offers a place for stillness, prayer and reflection.  There are occasional services and liturgies, prayer in the style of Taize, readings and music.  There are volunteers you can chat with over a drink of the famous warm and spicy apple juice, or you can just take time to sit and think.

Sacred Spaces

Quiet Days offer a mix of guided meditation and individual reflection time. There will also be creative materials, tea and cake, and of course plenty of quietness.

Sacred Spaces are Quiet Days offering time out from the busyness of life. Think of it as a retreat day, a spa day for the soul, a chance to reconnect, time for you. A donation of £15 (£10 concession) is requested and you should bring a packed lunch. Sacred Spaces are run by a team trained in contemplative prayer and spiritual accompaniment in association with the Epiphany Group.

Our venue is the Lower Lounge of St Paul's and St George's church, entered by the red door set back from the pavement at the top of Broughton Street.

Using scripture, poetry, art, symbols and music etc, some of the themes we have reflected on include images of God and self, journey, waiting, anger, the seasons, Lent and Advent, God in the everyday, brokenness, desire, the desert, mystery, love and letting go.

What is Refugio?

Refugio is a monthly, evening communion service set in the context of silence, symbol, and reflective prayer.

It is led by a variety of people across Edinburgh, and is open to all.

Refugio takes its name from the shelters where pilgrims, walking the medieval route to Santiago de Compostela, stop and find rest on their journey. Refugio is a stopping place for today’s pilgrims, away from the bustle of everyday life, away from many words and much doing, to a quieter, more reflective space, in which we can be nourished by bread and wine.

Refugio normally takes place on the second Sunday of the month, currently at Greyfriars Kirk, Candlemaker Row. It lasts about an hour.

More details can be found here.
